back
Chatham, Michigan:
I've compiled photos, salvaged from boxes while clearing Nanny's
"estate" in 2005. Where they have information on the back I've included
that. Most don't. Many of the people I have no idea who they are but
Nanny would
know and many from Chatham would too. So, for
what it's worth, a glimpse of Chatham, starting in 1910:

Apparently some photographer offered post card photos as a lot of these are in that format, even some of the portraits.

The Chatham fire of 1925. Nanny often mentioned returning from somewhere at night and seeing the sky lit up.
She told how one family worked mightily to get their piano out on the sidewalk but it burst into flames anyway
the heat was so intense. amazing the house in this photo (below) didn't suffer the same fate.

Have no idea who these folks are (below).

Snow to remember! 1925, brother Donald & Bob.

Dad and Donald.

I remember riding like this, on a long tobaggon, downhill of course, supervised by older kids.

Again, no idea who these folks are.

The shot below is a post card. There is a note on the back in what I take to be Finish, addressed to A. Kallio.

Apparently Grand Marais was fairly close to Chatham, or folks had relations there. Nanny mentioned
this GM landmark, fascinated by it... still there but spruced up in 2015.
